Why does fierce smell so good
Note: I am reviewing the classic formulation of Fierce. I do get the similarities at stages, but I have always felt that this one, was the better of the two. The citrus notes are prominent at the top, you get lemon and orange, to go along with plenty of dry woodsy elements.
Hence, the Legend comparison. The next phase joins the citrus with some herbal spice, from notes such as, sage. The spice is there in the opening few minutes, but in my mind the cologne always became a bit more peppery, when it transitioned past that immediate opening. Finally, you get the fantastic dry down that is laden with vetiver , oak moss, musk, and fir. You do still get some herbal spice and that lemon top note, but you mostly get a green, dry, and fresh smell. Projection wise, this stuff had a very good sillage.
You could bomb out a room, if you wanted to, but with normal sprays it was just a great performing cologne. The longevity was also there and you could get it to go all day, with only a few sprays. Fierce quite simply is a cologne that will get a man complemented. Fierce has an amazing depth and complexity to it, which I think plays a large part in its appeal. The scent is fresh, clean, and masculine. Add to that, they layer of sweet tangy-ness and you have yourself a winning fragrance.
It was great for casual or semi-formal events. It definitely was a teenager to early 20s fragrance for guys. Fierce was literally everywhere back in the day, and it was perfectly fine, because you would still get complements on it.
Shoppers will notice that the new bottle still bears the image of a shirtless torso as before. The campaign, FaceYourFierce, is intended to explore "the modern notion of what it means to be fierce through a sensitive, diverse and inclusive lens," the company said in a press release on Thursday. The scent has come to be associated with Abercrombie's former image — one whiff and it takes you right back to its dimly lit stores with booming music and shirtless models.
This is an image that current CEO Fran Horowitz has been working hard to shake off since she took the reins in February Read more: Abercrombie came back from the dead by getting rid of its shirtless models and dark stores.
Here's what else has changed for the retailer. In the early to mids, Fierce cologne was sprayed throughout the day by topless models or sales assistants and reportedly even blown through the air-conditioning system , meaning that its stores and even large parts of the surrounding streets or malls were often also polluted with the smell.
While this fanatic fragrance spraying was brought to an end in , the product has continued to be sold in stores and online since then. According to Abercrombie, Fierce ranked in the top four best-selling men's fragrances in the US for the past seven years. And if you go by online reviews, it's the former image of the scent that's putting customers off. For you. World globe An icon of the world globe, indicating different international options. But socially, everything I listed is in the background, because that is what I hear when that guy who is over loaded on "Fierce" walks into the room.
Fierce is impossible to wear because of the history of the scent and of AandF. Unless you are a rapist. Izzie Show all reviews by Izzie. Complete waste of money This smells like a glorified bodyspray. You might as well save your cash and buy some Axe.
Extremely irritating to smell after a while, it's far too strong. If anyone in close vicinity has oversprayed basically anything more than one spray from a distance is overspraying with this , you can practically taste it in the air it's so strong.
The same type of girls who like this? Will like Axe. So, do yourself a favor and either buy a can of Axe for next to nothing, or look around for a better scent. Nosey49 Show all reviews by Nosey What a disappointment! It may be my chemistry, but to me it smells a bit like a very weak, synthetic, sour version of GIT. Could it have been the tester?
What am I missing? Katana Show all reviews by Katana. One of my worst I blind bought this because I LOVED how it smelled on one of my students - it is horrid on me - this was several years ago and before I started coming here, and before I had really started getting into buying more scents - anyway - the stuff is simply harsh and wretched to my nose.
It smells great, but the downside is definitely that you will 'smell like the mall'. If they didn't pump this through the stores, this would get a thumbs up. I don't think the smell is bad, but the reputation it has and the memories that are brought about from the smell are negative.
It smells like every mall in North America. If you walk anywhere within a 1-mile radius of an Abercrombie store, you will smell this fragrance. It is worn by the very young like teens, pre-teens and is often worn in too high of a dosage. And it should absolutely never be worn to class or work or a movie theater or anywhere that would require you to be in close quarters with people for a long period of time.
It can get annoying when it is forced upon your nostrils constantly. The smell is nice from a distance, though. When someone walks by, you want to turn and walk in their direction to keep smelling it!
I love this one and is quickly becoming one of my favorites. If you take away the connection to the store, I don't see how the reviewers claim this is for the under 25 crowd.
This is the only fragrance that I have that has drawn a compliment from another man at work. Longevity has been very good on my skin and much better than Mont Blanc Legend, which I feel is a very similar scent.
Velma Show all reviews by Velma. I Love this fragrance. It's citrusy yet woodsy and fresh. Smells like an antique store or walking through a woods full of pine trees. Used to wear it every day until I discovered Zara 9. It is easy to dismiss this one because the bottle design which is a picture of a muscular man's torso , but I'm purely judging by the juice. This one is certainly a citrus scent with a tiny bit of woodsiness in the background. It's certainly something I think I've smelled before, at a mall where young people hang around.
With the citrus notes, I think they are a little more pungent and sour than sweet and fresh. I t is a bit masculine but it has a lightness about it though. I don't think I'll be buying this one, but it's not bad. It's still a good scent overall. It just didn't impress me a lot. Strength: Medium Season: Spring Age: Under 25 Rating: 6 out of 10 Verdict: I'm not particularly urging you to sample this, but if you are curious about this one go for it.
Although this one is very popular, it does the trick and does it well. It is a mixture, it is right on the line of young and classy. However, I feel this may be more suitable for those under 25, not neccesarily because it has a young smell but because it seems very trendy with them and many know it as that.
